Compensation for the victim’s loved ones
In Texas, when the negligent actions of one person contribute to the death of another, the responsible party may be held liable for the losses suffered by surviving family members. These losses may be economic in nature, such as funeral expenses, and lost wages and benefits — among various others — or they may be noneconomic, such as emotional suffering and loss of consortium, to name just a couple. With the assistance of legal counsel, the victim’s loved ones may be able to negotiate fair settlement terms with the responsible party’s insurance provider, or they may take the matter to court. Either way, their attorney will do everything possible to help them .
