On Behalf of | Feb 26, 2022 | Personal Injury

A car accident that results in a head injury has the potential to leave a Texas victim with detrimental effects that can impact the rest of his or her life. A traumatic brain injury can range from a minor concussion to irreversible brain damage, and the full impact of these types of injuries may not be apparent until weeks or months later. TBIs are often the result of a sudden blow to the head, such as from a car accident.

The possible impact of a TBI

There are many different types of TBIs, and their severity depends on the location of the injury, the force of the impact and other factors. Some of the most common symptoms associated with a TBI include:

  • Fatigue and headaches
  • Irritability and changes in personality
  • Vision problems
  • Amnesia and memory issues
  • Lack of concentration and poor attention
  • Confusion and disorientation
  • Seizures, nausea and vomiting
  • Feelings of depression

Any of these could indicate that one suffered from a TBI in an accident. While some symptoms and side effects may dissipate over time, it is possible that some of the effects of a TBI could affect someone for the rest of his or her life.

The aftermath of an accident

It can be difficult to navigate the aftermath of an accident in which someone suffered a TBI. If the event that left one with this type of serious injury was the result of the reckless or negligent actions of someone else, that individual may have the option to seek compensation through a civil claim. It is possible to hold parties deemed to have been at-fault accountable for the results of their actions.
