Are drivers in Texas more likely to be in car accidents?

On Behalf of | May 7, 2022 | Personal Injury

When driving, there are things motorists can do to protect themselves, including wearing seat belts and obeying the rules of the road. Even when doing everything they should to be as safe as possible, drivers and passengers are still at risk when others do not do the same. Accident numbers from 2022 indicate that driving in Texas could result in a higher chance of an accident.

Speeding and other dangerous behaviors

Texas is home to some of the deadliest interstates in the country. Interstate 45 is ranked as one of the most dangerous due to the highest number of fatal accidents that take place there each year, but this is not the only area of concern. According to a new study, seven of the 25 most dangerous interstates in the United States are located in Texas.

There are many factors that could contribute to the high numbers of motor vehicle accidents in Texas. Speeding, drunk driving, distraction and failure to obey traffic laws are all reasons why preventable accidents occur. Statistics also indicate that cyclists and pedestrians may also be at a higher risk of an accident in the Lone Star State.

Responsible driving is key

Each driver is responsible for the choices he or she makes while behind the wheel. When a driver is negligent or reckless, that individual is accountable for the harm suffered by others. Victims of car accidents in Texas will benefit from seeking the guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney to understand the specific ways they can seek legal recourse.
